  (On: Jul 04, 2009)

A detailed presentation was given to the Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on the progress on IPI project. The meeting was held on 4th July 2009 and PM while reviewing the progress on the project, expressed his satisfaction and directed ISGS/Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources to expedite the progress on the project for early completion.
Advisor to the Prime Minister on Petroleum Dr Asim Hussain briefed the meeting about the status of IP Gas pipeline project. He informed the meeting that the project would bring new opportunities in the adjacent areas by improving the technical and vocational skills, while providing jobs to the local population, particularly in the under-developed areas of Balochistan and Sindh.
He told the meeting that the project would create business activities for local contractors, suppliers and transporters, thus creating a large number of secondary jobs. The pipeline being an efficient and economical mode of transportation of fuel would result in reducing burden on road transport, while bringing improvement in the level of income, which would improve the living standard of the people.
