President Asif Ali Zardari and his Iranian counterpart Dr Mahmood Ahmadinejad on Sunday, 24th May 2009, signed an Intergovernmental Framework Declaration (IGFD) to support within the framework of their respective laws and regulations, the gas deal signed by the oil ministries of the respective countries.

On the same day, the Gas Sale Purchase Agreement (GSPA) was initialed by the Managing Director National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) and Managing Director Inter-state Gas Systems (ISGS) for export of Iranian natural gas to Pakistan at the border of Iran-Pakistan for domestic consumption in Pakistan. The GSPA is planned to be singed next month.
