Inter State Gas Systems (Private) Limited (ISGS) was established in 1996 as a private limited company incorporated under the Companies Ordinance 1984, as a joint venture between the two public sector gas utilities, SSGC and SNGPL. The formation of ISGS as joint venture between SSGC and SNGPL was approved as directed by the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet in June 1995, while considering the proposal for Import of gas from Iran to Pakistan.

Company Mandate

In order to meet the growing energy deficit in the country, the Government of Pakistan (GOP), besides encouraging local exploration and production, plans to import natural gas from across its borders from Iran and Turkmenistan.

Prepare long-term gas supply and demand forecasts for the country on regular basis, develop a shortfall mitigation plan, Evaluate economics of importing gas viz a viz other fuel options Assess augmentation required in the gas transmission infrastructure to receive and distribute imported natural gas.
